50 Years of Traditional Scottish Entertainment

A Highland Night is an evening of traditional entertainment, full of Scottish Music and Dance. These outdoor productions have been performed weekly during the summer months since 1965 by local artists for the residents and many visitors of Pitlochry: in the heart of Highland Perthshire, and are a famous part of the history of the area.

The Pipe Band along with singers and dancers from around the area continue to extend the hand of friendship and welcome thousands of people from all over the world, bringing them into the fold of "The Biggest Ceilidh in the Highlands".

Pitlochry's Blair Athol Distillery kindly donate a bottle of whisky each night for the lucky programme draw and refreshments are available throughout the evening.

Well known local compere Alan Brown introduces the entertainers who include Highland and Scottish Country Dancers, Scottish Singers and of course the Vale of Atholl Junior Pipe Band.

Scottish singers Ali McRae - “The Voice of Atholl” and May Brown sing traditional and well known songs, the Jean Swanston Highland Dancers perform a range of favourites - from the Highland Fling and Scottish Lilt to Irish jigs and hornpipes; the Vale of Atholl Scottish Country Dancers perform a range of set dances and in this special year we will have a few surprise acts! All accompanied by accordionists Donnie and James Kennedy. You can even join in and dance the Gay Gordons to the accordion music!

From a lovely Scottish love song to the vibrant dancing of jigs and reels, there's something for everyone.
